Activity Summary

"Coastal Area, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province is a flood -prone area because some of its location has the potential to cause climate change and uncontrolled forest exploitation. This phenomenon causes the coastal area to be more vulnerable to the risk of flooding in the form of water runoff from upstream, as well as the influence of spring tide waves and rising sea levels that can inundate land, called tidal floods. In recent years, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, has been flooded in several places. Based on the news compiled in the last nine years from 2012 to 2021, there have been 15 floods that have sank 14 districts in Bireuen Regency, namely Samalanga, Simpang Mamplam, Pandrah, Jeunieb, Peulambang, Peudada, Jeumpa, Juang City, Kuala, Term, Peusangan , Peusangan Siblah Krueng, Makmur, and Kutablang Districts. Judging from most of the flood cases occurred in coastal areas. Seeing these conditions, the hydrographic expertise group plans a community service program aimed at integrating a comprehensive understanding of disasters, especially floods regarding the causes and impacts of flooding, as well as their adaptation and mitigation strategies. The results of community service activities carried out are guides for the community of coastal areas in preparing ""Flood Response Villages"". This book guides the community to understand completely about the description of floods, the causes of flooding, the impact of floods, as well as adaptation strategies and mitigation of flood hazards. In addition, also given technical guidelines in the form of zoning maps of potential flood hazards that will guide the community in carrying out daily activities."
