The rattan-based furniture industry is one of the very potential furniture industries in Indonesia and still contributing to the country. This is the reason for the organizer of the design education program in Indonesia to learn specifically, the Interior Design Study Program in the ITB FSRD has learned it since decades ago through lectures in the courses at 3201 - Furniture Design 3. On the course for the first time students get the opportunity to do Field studies into the rattan furniture factory Yamakawa Rattan Industry, Bodesari Village, Cirebon are approximately 15 years ago. Since then this course is held every year until now. However, reference sources about rattan furniture and the design process are not yet specifically available in Indonesia, except in the form of lectures in the form of hand-out and presentation material in the form of slides. Therefore, the writing of the Rattan furniture design book became very urgent to support design studies in Indonesia. With the support of the rattan furniture design teaching resources in ITB and the rattan furniture industry resources in Cirebon, the writing of books on rattan furniture should be very feasible and possible. The Yand Rattan Furniture Design Book arranged contains material about rattan material resources, material recognition, design processes, color images and photos of rattan furniture products by sharing existing types or design styles. Including the history of rattan furniture in Indonesia in a glance and the production process until the discussion of marketing problems including the style of rattan furniture related to market tastes. In order for this book to be able to be utilized by a fairly wide reader of the ordinary community or consumers, students, designers and furniture industry players, then this book will be written in a form that is not too scientific or academic but also not too popular. With this rattan furniture design book It is hoped that the awareness of the importance of efforts to improve furniture design capabilities, especially will always increase which in turn will have an impact on the role of design roles in the rattan furniture industry in Indonesia.
