Southeast Asian countries include Indonesia known to its wealth and cultural diversity that can be seen in various cultural expressions in the form of traditional folklore, music, dance, and visual arts. This study proposed the direction of alternative visual development, especially character design in animated production by exploring the possibility of Javanese visual language adaptation. This method uses a direct approach with interviews, literature studies, and visual analysis. Visual analysis was conducted to determine the visual characteristics in the Javanese ways. The results of this study were tested using the theory of 'Fine language' developed by Tabrani. The form of its distinctive silhouette, this is the important characteristics of the wayangkulite figure. Multi-view depiction is, drawing images as if viewed from different directions, different distances, or different times described in one image, distorted proportions, this feature is used so that the puppet can be driven easily by the storyteller. Tatahan, this is the manufacture of decorative carving patterns that will make character shadows look more artistic and also help spectators to recognize character identity.
