This program is part of the commitment of LPPM ITB and LPPM Unand together with the Mentawai Islands Regency Government to collaborate on carrying out research and community service in one of the 3T areas, namely the Mentawai Islands. Matotonan Village is located on Siberut Island, Kab. Mentawai Islands. This village is located in the upstream of the Sarereiket River that connects Kec. South Siberut from Muara to Upstream. The condition of damaged and broken road access at several points makes the mode of water transportation the choice of the community of matotonan even though they have to take 6 to 8 hours depending on the height of the river water. People use pompong, a small canoe with 60 cm wide paste, which only fits 2 to 4 people. Because of the importance of river transportation in the Matotonan village community order, in this community service ITB plans to complete the village infrastructure with a gabion pier to facilitate access to rise and rise of residents and provide affordable solutions to reduce river erosion that is increasingly eating village land.
