This community service activity is a continuation of the 2023 LPPM ITB community service activity which has successfully applied biogas technology to handle animal waste (Kohe) from cattle farms in Jayagiri Village, Kec. Lembang, Kab. West Bandung, West Java. Activities with the West Java Life Saving Forum (FPLH), PT Aimtopindo Nuansa Kimia (ANK), and traditional cattle breeders in Jayagiri Village were carried out in 2023 and are expected to continue into 2024 with funding from PPMI FTI ITB. A Biogas reactor with a volume of around 25 m3 has been built to process Kohe from 30 cows, with a Biogas production capacity of around 10 m3/day and wet solids around 150 kg/day. The biogas production process produces quite large amounts of sludge and has the potential to pollute the environment. Through this activity, wet solid materials will be processed into organic fertilizer which is used for planting grass as cattle feed. So that grass can be converted into nutritious forage, silage technology will be applied in Jayagiri Village. In this way, circular economic activities can be generated in Jayagiri Village from the use of biogas energy, production of organic fertilizer, and production of silage for animal feed. This activity will be published through reports in several electronic mass media.
Development of Sustainable Organic Fertilizer from Biogas Generators on Cattle Farms
This program is not only to meet energy needs, but also to encourage community independence in the fields of energy and agriculture. Gas from the biogas reactor which has a flow rate of 4 lpm can be used as a substitute for LPG for daily activities. Biogas reactor residues can be used as organic fertilizer which can be sold or used to support the growth of agricultural crops.
