The aim of this community service activity is to provide assistance to the community in preventing stunting in toddlers using the Protein-Based Complementary Feeding (PBCF) approach. This activity was carried out in Bajawa District, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The approach that the team will take in the field is to provide assistance and education to the community about Protein Based Complementary Feeding or known as providing protein-based additional food. This assistance and education will be delivered by expertise in the health sector, namely lecturers from the School of Pharmacy (SF) ITB, lecturers from SITH, special speakers from PT. Biofarma, and also counseling related to child nutrition with a nutrition counselor. Apart from that, nutritional assistance will also be provided for toddlers in Bajawa District. The implementation of community service activities is supported by several policy bases, including the following: a) Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number HK.01.07/Menkes/1928/2022 page 34 concerning National Guidelines for Implementing Stunting Management and, b) Strategic Plan East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Health Service for 2019-2023 regarding the grand strategy for accelerating the prevention and control of stunting in East Nusa Tenggara Province.
The PM Stunting 2024 activity has several outcomes including a) scientific articles, b) international proceedings, c) publication in mass media, and d) video of the activity uploaded to YouTube. In the PM activities in 2024, it is projected that 100 people will be involved, consisting of health workers at the Bajawa District Health Center, the community, and toddlers who still need high protein intake. The 2024 PM stunting team consists of lecturers who have various disciplines, namely 1 lecturer from the Physiology, Animal Development and Biomedical Sciences (SITH) KK, 1 lecturer from the Pharmacology-Clinical Pharmacy (SF) KK, and 4 lecturers from the Humanities Sciences KK ( FSRD). Not only lecturers, MBKM students who joined this PM were also students consisting of various F/S at ITB, namely FITB Oceanography, Industrial Engineering from FTI (Cirebon Campus) and FMIPA Physics. It is hoped that by forming a team across KK, Faculties and Schools, PM activities can be carried out from various scientific perspectives, namely from science and from health sciences and supported by other sciences.
