Activity Summary

On the Jatinangor campus, waste produced from various sources, including: Offices, activities / student associations, dormitories, canteens, etc. For the campus environment Jatinangor himself, actually there have been a waste management facility in the form of aerobic composting but only focuses on processing leaves which are indeed produced. Some of the trash is transported by trucks owned by Sumedang Regency by paying a sum of levy money. Even then, the frequency of transportation cannot be done regularly due to the limitations of the truck. Therefore, the method of waste management is needed better. Organic is one of the dominant types of garbage produced from the Jatinangor campus. Organic waste can be degraded, both in the process environment that requires oxygen (aerobics) and without oxygen (anaerobic). The products produced through aerobic process are only solid compost and to enjoy the benefits of taking a relatively long time. Through a series of processes for processing of anaerobic organic waste (The facilities are called bioplant) are expected to be produced by gasbio as an energy source Renewable, in addition to being produced by solid compost and liquid compost. Because garbage is always produced from various kinds of human activities, sustainability as a renewable energy source can be more guaranteed. In order to be used as a sustainable source of renewable energy, an operational module and training can be used as a reference for anyone who applies this technology. As a well-known institution in the field of technology, ITB is fitting to provide examples of waste management technology solutions that can Providing more benefits so that it can be used as a reference for Best Practices for local government officials, the community and other related parties.

Target

Application of appropriate technology, the application of writing, the implementation of social care activities in the form of education / counseling / mentoring

Testimonials

Increasing waste generation increases along with population increase and increased community activities around Jatinangor, including the ITB campus at Jatinangor. A pile of rubbish is often seen on the side of the road around Jatinangor because The transportation of garbage transportation provided by the regional government is still very limited. Of course, this can lead to many environmental problems, regional aesthetics, Public health etc. Therefore, a breakthrough is needed in the management system garbage that prioritizes the concept of recycling / waste processing starting in the source, as mandated by Law No. 18 of 2008 concerning Waste Management.
