Activity Summary

As one of ecosystem services carried out by insects, pollination is directly responsible for sustainability of 35% of world food (Klein et al., 2007). Recently, there is growing concern on loss of wild insect pollinator (Buchmann & Nabhan, 1996; Kearns et al., 1998; Biesmeijer et al., 2006) and economic impact caused by that (Kevan & Phillips, 2001). In Indonesia, pollinator insects have not yet received notice as important component of agriculture system. On the other hand, common agriculture activities in Indonesia caused heavy environmental pressure to wild pollinator especially at annual crops farming (Klein et al., 2008). Thus, it is needed to find solution to improve pollination services at local agriculture system. During this activity, we provide group of local farmers with workshop on application of insect as pollination agent and installation of domesticated honey bees as pollination agent in agriculture area

Target
