Overcrowding / high density, low-quality and flammable construction material, as well as irregular electrical installations increase the risk of fire in informal settlements. On the other hand, the population of informal settlements is the most vulnerable and not ready to face a fire disaster. The challenge of reducing the risk of fire in the village city, especially those related to fire evacuation facilities for occupants is one of the important and complex problems because it is closely related to the physical structure of the city of Kampung which is not planned to face a fire disaster. There have been many events where when the fire in the village there are occupants who are trapped in fire because they are late to save themselves. In addition to the availability of gathering points, access to the gathering point also generally does not meet the safety requirements due to road patterns in the area of the city of irregular and narrow. Kampung City fire includes a large fire category (Conflagration) because it can involve dozens even hundreds of homes. Salvation of the soul relates to the availability of evacuation facilities that meet safety requirements is the evacuation time must be shorter than the time needed by the fire and smoke to pose a danger to the salvation of the soul. Research begins with primary data retrieval through interviews and observations.
This study will produce a guide for evacuation strategies for urban village fires.
