Central Halmahera Regency is one of the regencies in North Maluku Province with its northern position facing the Maluku Sea. This 2024 Community Service Activity is a proposal from the head of Bilititu Village through the "Desanesha" Community Service program in order to solve the problems faced by the Village. Apart from that, this program is an embodiment of ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology) as a campus that is locally relevant through community service with a superior scientific culture.
Bilifutu Village, which is located in North Patani District, Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, is an area rich in agricultural potential, especially in the production of nutmeg and coconut. These two commodities have an important role in the local economy, as the main source of income. In general, the problems faced by the people of Bilifitu Village are:
(1) The productivity of coconut and nutmeg is still low
(2) The economic value and added value and derivatives of fruit products are not yet maximized. coconut and nutmeg so that they have not been able to increase the income and/or welfare of the people of Bilifutu Village.
(3) Limited application of technology in post-harvest handling of coconut and nutmeg so that the selling value of coconut products and their derivatives is still low.
Seeing the problems faced by Bilipitu Village in coconut and nutmeg cultivation activities nutmeg (upstream) to post-harvest handling (downstream), through the village head asked us to provide training or other activities that could provide added value to coconut and nutmeg commodities and their derivatives so that the income and welfare of coconut farmers in Bilifutu Village would increase. Seeing the potential that exists in terms of land, commodities (coconut and nutmeg) and the community, the aim of the 2024 Community Service activities is to improve the welfare of the people of Bilifitu Village through training and demonstrations using GAP (Good Agriculture Practice) cultivation technology. ) and appropriate technology for post-harvest handling of coconut and nutmeg, especially making copra so that it can provide added value to coconuts and their derivatives.
