Activity Summary

At present the knowledge and use of natural pesticides and fungicides to deal with diseases in agricultural cultivation in Indonesia by smallholders, practitioners and the general public is still very minimal and is considered ineffective and efficient. The use of cheap technology based on Indonesian natural wealth with raw materials that are easily obtained and environmentally friendly is needed to deal with diseases in plants. The activities that will be carried out on the community service program are the application of shared research results that have been carried out by ITB researchers and UGM from various scientific disciplines (biology, chemistry and pharmaceutical), which also involves students in the final project of S2, with the basis of BIO-modification material, low cost, and local raw materials. In this activity, the team will transfer several knowledge and biodegradable bio-material use and methods of biodegradable as a substitute for synthetic fungicides and pesticides, namely: (1) the benefits and benefits of bio-material modification based on plants and vegetable production for health and the environment (2) Nano Kitosan application as natural pesticides and fungicides, and (3) efficiency and effectiveness of nanoctosan performance in reducing the production costs of agricultural products. These three types of technology have been applied to some of the cultivation of agricultural products such as chili, edamame, potatoes and cabbage for several types of varieties (Martien, et al., 2014, unpublished). The form of technology transfer will be held in the form of training and assistance to farmers, practitioners or industry, society and students (the number of ~ 25-50 people / agencies). The results of research and assistance are expected to increase knowledge and change perceptions of prevention and handling plant diseases in safe, inexpensive and environmentally friendly local vegetables. Currently there are prospective partners, namely PT. East West Seed Indonesia and PT. Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk. In addition, as one of the important outputs is the manufacture of modules about giving nanoctosan in plants during the planting period, which act as natural pesticides and fungicides for prevention of diseases in agricultural cultivation after completing activities will be distributed to the wider community.
