Activity Summary

On Wednesday, September 18 2024, a tectonic earthquake occurred in the Kertasari area, Bandung Regency, West Java. The main command post of the Bandung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that damage occurred in eight villages, including hundreds of houses, a number of public facilities, such as health centers, mosques and schools with light, moderate and heavy damage up to destruction. It was also reported that hundreds of residents also suffered light, moderate and serious injuries. Therefore, on Tuesday, October 1 2024, a group of ITB disaster response teams consisting of members from various scientific disciplines, namely the School of Science, were dispatched to the location. & Biological Technology (SITH) in the biomedical field, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) along with ITB Psychologists in the psychosocial field, School of Pharmacy (SF) and involving external parties, namely qualified doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University (FK UNPAD). Together, an integrated trauma recovery program has been launched with a Biomedical and Psychosocial approach for earthquake survivors. This program consists of several series, namely:

1.SITH & ITB psychologist: examination of the neuropsychological condition of disaster victims to detect symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) questionnaire as well as recording brain waves using the MUSE portable electroencephalogram (EEG) device, as well as psychological assistance. 2.FSRD: implementation of art-therapy activities for disaster victims in the elementary school age group. 3. SF & FK UNPAD checks medical conditions or anamnesis and provides free medicine to disaster victims

The multi-disciplinary integrated disaster response program that has been carried out as a form of community service is very important to continue and continue if there is a similar disaster in the future.
